Welcome to new ESE President, John Whitworth

The ESE is pleased to introduce its next President, who will serve from 1st January 2022 until 31st December 2023.
John Whitworth is Professor of Endodontology at Newcastle University, UK and a clinical Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Newcastle Dental Hospital. He serves on the Dental School Strategy Team, where his broader roles have included Director of Student Progress and Support and Director of Engagement.
He is a Past President of the British Endodontic Society and has served on the Executive Board of the ESE for 12 years, as Editor from 2009 and Chair of the Education and Scholarship Committee from 2011, where he led a major revision of Undergraduate Curriculum Guidelines (2013), developed a special interest group for endodontic educators within the ADEE, orchestrated several ESE Educational Symposia, led the Postgraduate programme approval process and developed guidelines for programme re-accreditation. John was Assistant Editor/Deputy Editor in Chief of the IEJ for 10 years, has published original research on a range of topics from clinical trials in dental local anaesthesia to dental pulp physiology and has contributed to and edited a number of textbooks. At home, John is a keen cyclist, hill walker and gardener, and enjoys making jewellery and objects from metal. He was recently widowed and takes great pleasure in his two grown-up daughters and their fine partners.
