With a degree and postgraduation studies in International Relations, Mónica Freire has been in
the meetings & events industry since 2001 with roles in corporate and pharma companies.
Since 2010 joined and international pco group where she has continued her path in the
industry as a professional congress organiser, managing congresses and events on an
international level and coordinating local and regional teams and being responsible for
operations, client management and new business. Mónica Freire has also been actively
engaged in her industry community and has served for 6 years as Board member of the
International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) leading initiatives such
as Outreach and Ambassadors programmes, Quality and Community Engagement task forces.
Mónica joins ESE as Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with Executive Board,
managing the daily activities, ensuring the implementation of the strategic direction of the
Society and engaging with the ESE community and different stakeholders.
